October 2-4 Story Hours

If you missed Story Hour last week, that's okay! Here is what we went over:

Literacy/Developmental Skill:
Children love being able to identify animals and imitate the sounds they make.  Identifying animals, matching each sound with an animal picture, and imitating animal sounds build children's knowledge of the world around them.  Even children who are not yet talking can make a cow sound!

Today, we learned a new song with counting and sign language called "Hearts and Kisses." You can see and practice this song below:

We read/played/acted out some great stories with lots of animals and animal noises!

This week, we spent the last bit of time with independent creative play.  We offered stuffed animals, puppets, shakers, music, puzzles, and more to encourage imagination, sharing, working together, vocabulary, and an overall great time!

In Preschool Story Hour, we added a few more books and activities!

We played a few games:

Zoo Activities for Preschoolers
We pretended to be all kinds of animals while we made our best animal noises! We also worked together to classify about 20 animals by how they move: Do they fly? Do they swim? Or do they walk?

Join us next week for our next skill!
